The goal of our knee treatment is for you to truly heal and find lasting relief from the knee pain and/or discomfort of other chronic joint issues. These same conditions are often keeping you from enjoying the activities you either love to do or need to do in your daily life.
How do you know if your knee pain is serious?
•Trouble bearing weight on your knee or feel as if your knee is unstable.
•You have noticeable knee swelling.
•You aren’t able to completely extend or flex your knee.
•You have an obvious deformity in your leg or knee.
•In addition to redness, pain and swelling in your knee, you have a fever.
Osteoarthritis of the Knee:
An inflammation of one or more joints, causing knee joint pain and/or stiffness that can worsen with age. Arthritis of the knee causes the cushioning of the knee joint to break down which can cause friction in the knee joint. Over time, the cushioning can completely break down, resulting in a “bone on bone” effect, resulting in chronic daily knee pain. This knee joint paint often leads to knee replacement surgery.
What does arthritis in the knee feel like? A knee joint which is affected by osteoarthritis can often be painful and swollen. Typically, the pain comes on gradually over time, however, abrupt onset is also possible. Other symptoms can also exist, such as the joint become stiff and swollen, making it difficult to bend and straighten the knee.
Soft Tissue Injuries:
Soft tissue injuries can come on either suddenly or develop over time. Soft tissue refers to tissues that connect, support, or surround other structures and organs of the body. Soft tissue injuries can include swollen or torn ligaments, torn meniscus, MCL sprain, ACL injury, Bakers Cyst, patellar tendonitis, runner’s knee, bursitis and muscular or ligament stress. One of the most common things patients want to know is how long does it take for soft tissue injuries to heal? Depending on how severe the knee injury is, it can take between 6-12 weeks to heal. Even if one of these issues has already been eliminated, visit us for evaluation and we will work to find the source of your pain.
The Following Knee Symptoms May Start Gradually and then Worsen:
•Swelling and tenderness of the knee
•Buckling or locking of the knee joint
•Knee Pain when walking
•Cracking or popping sounds in the knee
•Decreased range of motion of the knee
•Weakness or giving way of the knee or leg
•Knee Pain in the morning or after inactivity
•Discomfort when climbing stairs, rising from a seated position or kneeling
